| In my family of Kentucky 'ridge runners', oral tales were a tradition that even the children participated in. I well remember the nights my brother and cousins and I would sit in the dark with a candle or just the moonlight drizzling in through a window and tell each other tall tales hoping to scare the bejeezus out of each other. As I grew up, my stories became a low level sort of fan fiction loosely based on the old Star Trek TV series but with new, exciting characters. I'd entertain my girlfriends with those stories and, once, on a class trip, the guys and gals took the pages and acted the story out. After that, they wanted more but, alas, we were on the verge of moving on to college or adult life and we had to leave those things behind...except I didn't. I kept writing even when I went to college. I wrote when I began working and when I married. I wrote when my first child was born. While these life happenings may have slowed me down, they never stopped me. I've enjoyed meeting each of my characters and learning about them and, yes, from them. And I hope you do as well. Currently I live in Michigan with my dear husband and my big old fluffy cat, Wookie Baby, who helps me write and helps run my contests with a furry paw, Skye my beautiful Golden Retriever who is learning to be Wookie Baby's minion and eventually working as a therapy dog with me...plus a thousand characters each clamoring for their own story to be told.
